Betty,
Cheektowaga:
The church we belong to in Cheektowaga has just sent us our supply of envelopes
– 26 envelopes. Now because they closed the school, they want us to spend
for the Catholic elementary school funding plan, for Break the Cycle of
Poverty, Catholic University of America, Retirement Fund, etc. People can
hardly afford to pay their own bills, with the price of gas and heating and
everything else. That's nerve!
Sally,
South Cheektowaga:
Well, the local elections are finally over and what's to come of it? Collins
kept saying he will run the county like a corporation. Well, most of us work
for corporations and their only concern is corporate profits at the expense of
the workers doing the hard work while the profits go to the top. So does that
mean he will hire top paid people and cut services at the bottom which will
mean closing libraries and cutting sheriffs and other services to us?
Louise,
Cheektowaga:
In response to Colleen who claims she knows the people who own the gas station
with the exorbitant prices and they apologize for their high prices because
it's the fault of their supplier. If that's the case, how come other gas
stations of the same brand aren't as high as this one? They would have the same
supplier. The truth is they are gouging. They are on a premier corner and they
do not and should not command a premier price. They are laughing all the way to
the bank.
Sharlene,
Cheektowaga:
So the owners of a certain name brand gas station have signs apologizing for
their high prices. That sure makes me feel better. In fact, I think I might
follow suit and put a sign of apology in my car window for not patronizing that
particular station as I drive by and find another station to fill up at where
the price is maybe 25 cents a gallon cheaper. Who do they think they're
kidding?
Gary,
Cheektowaga:
It's Monday (Veterans Day) and I drove by that infamous high priced gas station
early this morning. What do you know, their price was down by about 10 cents.
Very interesting. I don't see other area stations coming down with their
prices, but suddenly when people were starting to complain about this
particular station and bringing the fact that their prices were way out of line
to the attention of the general public, their prices dropped dramatically. Maybe
their signs of apology should say "Sorry for gouging".
Maggie,
Cheektowaga:
In response to Robin of Cheektowaga. I did not know that being homeowners in
Cheektowaga meant we're not allowed to look at or watch anything around us. How
dare you! You are the one who should move. How about another planet?
Leonard,
Cheektowaga:
In response to Steve of Cheektowaga regarding the elderly gentleman riding his
motorcycle and lawnmower on the sidewalks and without a helmet on. I have seen
him too. I get my gas at that corner gas station and sometimes when I'm trying
to pull out he's riding his motorcycle without a helmet. It's dangerous and
he's sending the wrong message to kids who see him and think it's ok to ride a
motorized vehicle on the sidewalk. A few times when I've been with my kids
riding bicycles we have had to move over because this man is on the sidewalk
with his motorcycle or lawnmower. If we pull on the street, then he pulls on
the street. I think the police need to get involved here and speak with this
gentleman about this situation.
Judy,
Cheektowaga:
In response to Robin who stated that it is not illegal to feed birds. Well, it
actually is and if you want to check with the housing inspector of Cheektowaga
they will confirm that it is illegal to feed birds in Cheektowaga. So, you
really need to check your facts.
Paul,
Cheektowaga: I
don't know what the big deal is about parking cars on the street when it's 50
degrees out or no chance of snow, what's the difference if cars are on the
street or not?
Al,
Cheektowaga:
Are any of our town officials aware of the job being done on the senior center
parking lot? I see town equipment being used so I assume the town highway
department is doing the work. All I see are workers sitting around and little
productivity. Maybe in the future the people voting in our town will finally
realize what's going on.
